The Hometown Comfort Story
Hometown Comfort began in 1965 when our founder, Paul Garber, established what was then called New Paris Oil Company. New Paris Oil served families, businesses, and farms with heating oil, motor fuels, and lubricants.
In 1974 Marcus Brubaker became a partner in the New Paris Oil Company. Over the next few years, we experienced steady growth of staff, product offerings and customers and expanded into multiple counties throughout Ohio and Indiana. In 1986 Paul’s son, Gary, purchased his father’s portion of the business and merged his electrical contracting company with New Paris Oil which now consisted of five divisions: Transport, Route, Lubricants, HVAC, and electrical. In 1995 the lubricant division was sold. In 2000 the HVAC division was sold to the division manager, John Denlinger, who now operates it as New Comfort Heating and Cooling.
In 2006 we changed our business name to be more encompassing of where and how we do business. With the help of our customers, we chose the name Hometown Comfort. The new name better reflects our “hometown” attitude and the caring, helpful manner in which we choose to serve our customers.
In September 2009, Marcus and Gary separated the petroleum and the electrical business creating two family owned businesses that could be passed on to succeeding generations. Marcus retired from the company in 2012, passing the baton to his sons, Loren, Alex, Jason, and their families, who now carry on the Hometown Comfort tradition.
The Hometown Comfort team continues to offer fuel oil, propane, motor fuels, and equipment services to neighbors in homes, farms, and businesses. Caring for customers and teammates, and treating everyone with love and respect continues to be priority number one.
